This harbor scene probably depicts a fishing port in Italy (Grado?). The painting is possibly identical to the painting Ships in the Port of Volendam (EL 1903 Vol.40 #2614) exhibited at the Künstlerhaus in 1903, which has the same dimensions, but is listed here (in contrast to APH) as a separate work because of the clearly Italian architecture.
APH, catalog raisonné JQA 1995, p. 52 cat.#21 fig.2#11, there dated 1903 and assigned to Voldendam (KH EL Vol.46 1903 #2614).
