This work is documented only from a Vienna auction from 1928 (Kende 29.-30.9.1928 Lot 2), there described as portrait of a young lady - half figure pastel. In the archive of the Vienna Künstlerhaus there is a corresponding note from the archivar: wife of the artist, identifying the sitter as Stefanie Adams (1881-1952). This portrait study likely resembles closely the portrait of Stefanie Adams in the family portrait also completed in 1908 (see cross-references).
