Oil on cardboard on wood 51 x 68 cm

Private collection Austria.

One of the few surviving pure landscape paintings by Adams. Previously undocumented. Undated, but based on the redrawn (forged?) signature, dated before 1905 (approx. 1903). The title Ski-Heil reflects the private interests of the athletic artist, an ambitious skier and mountain hiker (first ascent of the Posthorn on Lake Wolfgang with touring skis). Probably painted at the Semmering near Vienna or in the Wolfgangsee region, where Adams regularly visited his parents-in-law's Bürglgut estate in Strobl and, from 1919, also owned his own wooden house in St. Gilgen.
