This portrait of an unknown lady is only known from an auction in France in 2018. It is likely that the subject came from upper-class (Jewish?) circles in Vienna and that the portrait found its way to France during forced emigration in the Nazi era. There is a complete lack of information that could possibly lead to the identification of the sitter and her biography. The work is characteristic of Adams' late style and is dated to around 1920 (or later) due to the strongly slanted signature.
