Henriette Catherine Schlumberger, daughter of the banker Charles Schlumberger (1861-1934) and Emilie Sch., née Vischer (1867-1946), 29.12.1906 to ?? 1971. Marriage to Ulrich Iselin on 27.9.1926 in Basel. The portrait was probably made on the occasion of the wedding. The Schlumberger, Vischer and Iselin families are all respected Swiss patrician families. Further biographical data and information about the life of the sitter are not known even to the still living distant relatives in Switzerland. The portrait by Adams is thus the only remaining testimony of Henriette Catherine Schlumberger and is now in the possession of a descendant of the artist, held in appropriate esteem.
