This charming portrait of a girl was sent to the publisher by an anonymous owner using the pseudonym Lys in 2022, who purchased the picture online in 2020 via the Mercato Libre marketplace in Mexico. There is no information available about the provenance or the identity of the girl depicted. It is likely that the painting found its way from Vienna to North America in the course of the emigration of a well-to-do Jewish family. In the absence of further information, it is unfortunately not possible to identify the person depicted or to investigate her life and fate.
