Shadow silhouette, full-length portrait in profile view from the left, legs crossed, on the lap a manuscript, writing on it with a quill.

Early work of the artist, made after a template, depicting the 6th U.S. President John Quincy Adams and inscribed. The original copied by young Adams is a silhouette made by William James Hubbard (1807-1862) in 1822 in the White House that was published several times (s. literature).
