This nude study, executed only sketchy but with bold brushstrokes, appeared on the art market in Budapest in 2026. Based on the signature and the thematic connection to the artist’s outdoor nude studies, the study is dated to around 1911. The study, which was likely created in the studio, probably served as preparation for a series of outdoor nude studies that Adams painted at Lake Wolfgang in 1911. The sketch-like study not only offers insight into the artist’s creative process but also, through its expressive brushwork, takes on a decidedly modern appearance that points far forward into the late 20th century.
